Mountain Biking - Malaga
Andalucia is made for mountain biking. The sweeping ridges and valleys that run down the province create unlimited possibilities for rides of all lenghts and grades..
The widespread cultivation of olives mean that there are lots of fire road and dirt track that not only make great rides by themselves, but also give access to the wilder single track in the hinterland.
The area behind the village of Villanueva del Rosario gives good rides for all abilities.
Further afield the natural park of Montes de Malaga is an undiscovered gem in the Malaga hinterland. There are dozens of dirt tracks within the park which are perfect for mountain biking and there is one documented in the great Bikefax guide to Mountain Biking in Southern Spain.
The park has a large selection of routes to follow from quite flat, short runss on the dirt tracks to more adventurous 40 km routes which drop down into the valleys before climbing back into the mountains.
The area around El Chorro also has several good, harder routes that normally include some hard climbs, but reward you with amazing single track descents.
